· Next year’s Young Hoosier books will be available for check out on Monday and Tuesday, May 21 and 22. In order to check out books you need to be able to return them on Tuesdays during the summer when the media center is open from 6:00 pm - 7:00pm.
· Congratulations to the following students who earned awards during the RAA Young Artist Showcase in Music.
Piano - Blue Ribbon Winner - Gabrielle Raab
Instrumental - Blue Ribbon Winner -Grace Heppner (guitar) and Molly Jones (flute)
Trophy Winners in the vocal competition were Shelby Drew, Olivia McKnight, and Gabrielle Raab
Blue Ribbon Winners in the vocal competition were Kenzie Dreyer, Katryna Gellenbeck, Madeline Greene, Lizzie Griffith, Morgan Kramer, Esther Martz, Lila Nuhring, Zachary Olson, and Caleb Rogers.
A Blue Ribbon Ensemble Winner was comprised of Alana Pinckley and Brooklynn Weisenbach.
A trio consisting of Ashley Daulton, Madeline Greene, and Lexi Scott also earned a Blue Ribbon.
Congratulations to these music students.
· The Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities offers exciting Summer Adventure Programs for high ability students and adults! · ATTENTION 8TH GRADERS!! THE LAST DAY LAST FOR HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULE CHANGES IS MAY 23. As stated in the BHS handbook: Students will be able to review their schedules in May prior to the Schedule Change Deadline. Once a student’s schedule has been prepared, changes may be made until the end of the current school year. Please visit the BMS office to pick up a Schedule Change Form.
· Be sure to get your RCA tickets turned in by the end of the day on Monday, May 21. The RCA drawing will be on Tuesday, May 22. Check out some of the prizes in the display case in the commons.
· Any student who will be 15 by June 19th and is interested in the second session of Driver’s Education should pick up an application in the BMS office. The application is due to the high school by Friday, May 18th.
· Attention, students, be sure to check out the resumes posted in each grade-level hallway. These resumes are for students who are running to represent you during Student Council next year. Voting will occur on Friday of this week.
· The Indiana Sheriff's Association will be sponsoring TWO Sessions of the Sheriff's Youth Leadership Camp for students currently in grades 7 and 8 this summer. This camp is designed for students who are interested in learning more about a possible career in law enforcement. The Northern session of the camp will be held June 13-15 and the Southern session of the camp will be held July 10-12. Stop by the office for more information or an application.
· Dimes for DI! Your dimes will help send the BHS DI team to Globals in Knoxville, TN. The team,Wild Haggis Productions, includes Kaitlyn Christie, Jessie Mittleman, Hannah Rogers, Madeline Stevens, Jacob Dunbar, Chris Crume, and Sarah Call. The team has been working all year on their wacky and creative skit. They are very excited to have the opportunity to represent Batesville in Knoxville. It is only through the generous support of the community that the team is able to go! Thank you for all your help! A collection tin is located in the BMS office.
· Due to youth football camps being held, the high school weight room will be closed the weeks of May 7 & May 14. It will open again on Monday, May 21.

· Batesville’s Rural Alliance for the Arts will be hosting its 22nd Annual Art Auction, on May 19th at 6 pm at the new Hill-Rom Center on SR 46. This year’s theme will be “A Magical Evening,” and attendees will enjoy a buffet dinner and magic show, in addition to an evening of bidding on silent and live auction items. Proceeds go toward funding arts programming for the six local schools and community. Please come and support this invaluable resource to our schools! Tickets are $50 or $55 after May 5th. The RAA accepts credit cards (Visa, Discover and MasterCard) and reservations can be made by calling 812-933-0355.
Sports: Any eighth grade girl interested in trying out for the tennis team next spring needs to sign-up outside the office by Monday, May 21. There is a summer program you need to participate in if interested in trying out.
There is a sign up sheet for any 8th grade boy interested in playing tennis at BHS next fall. Open courts will begin in early June.
Lunch: Breaded chicken patty on bun, Green beans, Rice Krispie Treat, Fruit, Milk OR SALAD BAR.
